What is in the Strategies Toolbox?
As you use this resource there is one very common theme for each strategy presented: there is no one model that will work unanimously, ever student is unique and depends on their climate, there is no guarantee that they will work. Each strategy hinges on the fact that self-regulation is specific to each individual, hence the fact that we emphasize the use of this strategy toolbox as a springboard or a trial based approach as to whether or not it will work for the students.
The collection of strategies that you will find within this resource was compiled with a collection of online research, survey questioning of educators, and personal face-to-face interviews with educators that are actually using these strategies. The educators shared these resources with the desire to share their knowledge with the rest of the field of education in hopes that it can help more students. We encourage anybody who has any feedback with the strategies to please leave a respectful comment beneath it in regards to it's effectiveness, and other possible ways for implementation.
We have separated each strategy section into 8 headings based on the categories of executive functioning (see Science Behind Self-Regulation page for more information). The strategies have been sorted into the correlating executive function that we felt it fit best with, however many of the strategies apply to multiple functions and can be considered effective.
